White Horse Trail – Walk 5 of 7

Sunday 17th April 2017

If you’ve been following this series carefully, you’ll know that I’ve currently walked only two of the intended seven circular walks… Officially, this walk is the fifth in the series as Jo had planned it but, ‘Walk #3’ has been reserved for the mini walking festival (later this month), due to its comparatively low mileage.

So, Walk #5… It began in a place called Honeystreet. Not a million miles from Devizes and south of the Alton Barnes White Horse.

#Walk1000Miles – May 2017

May was a very short month, wasn’t it?

At this time in 2016, I’d walked 83.5 miles in May and was looking at a tally of 346.75 miles for the year so far…

How will this point in 2017 compare?

Back From Dolgellau

I arrived home at about 20.10 last night, having spent the previous three evenings sleeping in a tent to the south of Snowdonia in mid Wales.

My first trip away with and experience of camping with a walking group. Previously, I’d only been camping with one friend at a time. It’s passed by very quickly and there are many things I could reflect on.

In the company of a friend, we were following a route from the first Walk West eBook. I’ve walked similar routes a number of times but I also wanted to tick this one off and share the experience.

White Horse Trail – Walk 2 of 7 (Part 2)

Bank Holiday Monday 17th April 2017

I was just about halfway in to this walk; thinking about lunch while having to negotiate a herd of dairy cattle who had congregated close to the stile I was aiming for.

White Horse Trail – Walk 2 of 7 (Part 1)

Bank Holiday Monday 17th April 2017

This was the second walk in what will become a series of seven, enabling the completion of Wiltshire’s White Horse Trail.

I wasn’t able to attend this as an organised group event, due to a clash with Mother’s Day. A couple of weeks later, I set off for Wiltshire on my own, during the Easter Bank Holiday Monday.
