Walking For Charity: June 2018

I’m officially going to be walking (backpacking) The Ridgeway National Trail from Saturday the 9th of June and for at least five days. My accommodation for four nights has or is being booked.

This will be my first ever experience of backpacking and multi-day hiking; carrying everything I’ll depend upon (food, shelter, guidance) on my own two shoulders.

With all of that in mind, I’ve decided to try and raise a small amount of money for charity and invite you to visit my JustGiving page [link below], where I’ve selected a local charity (BRACES) in Bristol to support, who offer scientific research in to Alzheimer’s and dementia (something that I have experienced within my own family).

Sponsor Me

I will not make a penny from this. All of the donations will go to the charity. I am paying for my own food, transport and accommodation, while hopefully taking lots of photos along the way.

Thanks for reading.

On the Wales Coast Path, last month.

At the end of October, I had 922.25 miles in the bag. Let’s take a look at how November 2017 went.

#walk1000miles – October 2017

Officially, I imagine we’re still in autumn. However, recent temperatures have suggested that winter isn’t very far away.

Then, there’s Daylight “Savings”… Where we actually lose an hour’s light in the evenings all because we live in a country that’s afraid of change (possibly). That alone will have an effect on my monthly miles.

#walk1000miles – August 2017

Some believe that today marks the official end of summer with the arrival of autumn; accompanied by the usual comments of ‘Wot summuh?’, when in fact, all the good stuff seem to come and go before rain-ridden August.

September is often a drier month than its predecessor, even as the temperature begins to fall with the leaves and daylight hours. Effectively, I have four months left in which to complete this year’s #walk1000miles challenge…
